Winter landscapes were the subject matter of our final class this fall.  Eight weeks went by so fast!
We painted these wet into wet starting with the background dropping in color over color and quickly into the foreground with the shadowed path and tree shadows.  We scraped in some of the trees and painted in others, we also used some white gouache for the snow on trees and the fresh falling snow.

This weeks watercolor class "Fall Harvest"  I raided my window boxes for the subject matter.  Those are called Turban squash, they were easy and fun to paint,  I'm told they are edible too, but I think I'm only interested in painting them for the time being.

Geraniums on yupo paper.  A fun and easy yupo exercise, I started by painting the background around my drawing and when it was semi dry I lightly painted the white petals that I had previously drawn and lifted a few from the background to finish.

"Seashore Purse" watercolor on arches 140.  I found this crazy bag made out of fisherman's net and collected shells in it last year, the other day it inspired a new painting.  I drew it one day and had to stare at it for a few more to figure out how I was going to attempt the net without driving myself crazy.  When I finally got underway it wasn't hard at all.  I just started painting the net and then painted the shells underneath one by one.

Women In The Arts

3/1/14

The Preservation Framer is thrilled to host its second "Women In The Arts" Reception on Saturday, March 1st 7-10pm

We are dedicating this evening to over 12 of the most wonderful and talented women in the area! Some, we have known since the opening of our gallery. Some have more recently graced us with their presence. All have a definite style and a unique vision that places them in a very special category: THEY ARE ALL FINE ARTISTS!

We have been looking forward to this night for a long time, and we are proud to exhibit some of our very favorite artists for this group show. From Photo Realism to Abstract Expressionism and Everything In Between ... this is the show you don't want to miss!

The evening is free of charge & makes a perfect date night. We will have refreshments and showcase live music from our talented friend Gay Barboza. Make sure to visit our neighbors Porto Bello Cafe, Bistro 45 or Natty Greene's Tavern for diner before of after the reception
