Another one of this weeks winter landscapes.  We used a combination of a few photos to get this done.
matted size is 16 x 20.  I will be at the Patriot Place Gallery this weekend painting a new piece of the Modern Pastry  neon sign in Bostons North End.  We stopped there a few weeks ago to get cannoli's for the ride up to Maine.  I had been wanting to paint a neon sign and there it was just waiting to be photographed and painted, I will post when done.

Watercolor on Ampersand Aquaboard only this time I am trying the cradleboard.  Its a nice clean look, no need for a frame.  I'm still working on this guy, I'm happy with his left side but not so sure about his right and I'm trying to decide if it is the light on top that I'm not sure of.

This weeks class is landscapes from various photos.  Here is a forest/field photo that I turned into a marsh scene, because I just love the marshes that I see while in Kennebunkport.  I also added a photo that I took out my front door of the glorious morning we all woke up to.  I love the snow especially when it seems to only snow on the ground and trees and not on the roads like it did this time.

Monday, November 5, 2012

"Claronette"  is another watercolor on Ampersand Aquaboard I did while home with everyone because of the hurricane.  My family members were all busy so I got to painting but only finished yesterday while at the Patriot Place Gallery, gallery sitting.

"More Masons"  here is this weeks class painting, I've painted it before and it is a well liked piece so I decided to paint it with the class since they are all interested in learning how to attempt glass.  This is a quick easy first step in that.
A good friend and I went to the Rhode Island Watercolor Society' National Show yesterday.  I'm sorry again that I did not submit this year.  Many beautiful pieces!  First place was a show stopper.

Two openings this weekend, first Sat. at Next Door Gallery and then Sun in Rehoboth at Country Gardens

Monday, September 10, 2012

Its beginning to feel a lot like Fall.  While shopping at my local farm I saw the Indian Corn and got excited about painting them, they were slightly unusual in that these had only golden kernals and the husks were purple.  Very pretty!  The Navaho pottery is from my family friends in New Mexico.

"Silver Drawer"  11 x 14 watercolor on Ampersand Aquaboard

Tuesday, July 31, 2012

Another watercolor painting on Aquaboard, "Hen Pecked II"  I only remembered to photograph it after I framed it that is the reason why it has that funky shadow around the two sides, I love this painting,  didn't have a picture to go by just the one in my head.

Took this photo at Pickety Place in NH about a month ago, too too cute!  It was just screaming to be painted.  Another watercolor on Ampersand Aquaboard.

Monhegan Laundry watercolor painting on Arches cold press 16 x 20

Friday, July 27, 2012

"Buoys"  This little painting also Watercolor on Ampersand Aquaboard.  I still need to tweak it a little bit, the colors are not as garish as the photo portrays.  This was the only still life I was able to get done on my trip to Monhegan Island.  Im now working from a photo I took while there, will post it tomorrow.

Rock study at the Island
Painting #2 from Monhegan Island, also painted on Ampersand aquaboard.  Watercolor

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Painting on Monhegan Island ME last weekend with some new friends.  What a great time we had.  Landscape is my least favorite subject to paint so I really had to push myself.  I did have a revelation though, I think I am going to try some guash instead of watercolors thinking I might want to do simple shape landscapes as I find mine to always be boring.
This particular painting is again on the Aquaboard.

"Aint She Something"  another watercolor on the Ampersand Clayboard. 16 x 20
"Potting Shed" a little watercolor painting on Ampersand clayboard.  Ive been painting just not posting lately.  Painting a lot outside getting ready for a trip to Monhegan Island in Maine.

Another one on AquaBoard, clayboard, I am really liking this surface.  The picture does not do the painting   justice, it is actually really rich color with a slight sheen of cobolt blue, very pretty.

Monday, June 25, 2012

Two of my paintings have been accepted into the "Still Life Juried Show" at the Woodshed Gallery in Franklin MA.  The show opens on July 3 and runs thru Aug 4  an opening reception will be held on July 14 for 3 - 5.  This is the first time I have entered a show here, so happy to get in!

Wednesday, June 20, 2012

I worked a little more on "Brass" I like it better with the background copying the metal feel.  Now its all framed and in the gallery, lets hope it sells, my instruments seem to do well in Ellens shop.

Friday, June 15, 2012

Another opening this Saturday at the Next Door Gallery.  Always a good time, great food and drink and awesome music!  I will have two new pieces in the show I hope all of you followers can come!

Thursday, May 31, 2012

This brass horn I am still working on, took it to the framer just to get it sized for a frame , I plan exhibiting it in the upcomming show at the Next Dooor Gallery.  Opening date is June 16th.

Here is this weeks painting project from watercolor class.  A high horizon painting with a burlap drape.  Salt was used to have to watering can appear galvinized.

Monday, May 14, 2012

This weeks watercolor class will be azalias which I painted on hot press paper, something I have not done in a long long time.  Both close ups of flowers and that kind of paper.  I found it to be a lot of fun.
I need to tell my friend Chris thankyou because when she was not home today I stopped over to photograph her plants before the rain started.

Another egg still life 16 x 20 watercolor

Monday, May 7, 2012

While gallery sitting at Patriot Place Gallery this weekend I painted these chickens.  I guess because I was missing little Paisley, Peanut and Zulo, the baby chicks I am foster raising at home.  They will probubly be leaving me this weekend to go live in their new coop.

I was thinking back today of a cable show I did a few years back and thought I should probubly add a link from my blog.  So here you go.  If you just scroll down the list and when you get to my piece all you need to do is click on the title "Along the way1409" and you can watch.  Enjoy!  I would love to know what you think.

"Lemons and Lilacs" was painted this week in class with the little time we had after finishing the violin.  The paintings of the lilacs actually looked better than the real thing, for some reason this year they were not very full and they did not last even 2 days in the vase.

"Sticks and Stoneware"  Here is a painting I was playing with this week, it is on a new surface for me, it is called Aquaboard.  It almost feels like hot pressed paper in that it is very easy to lift off the paint.  The Masonite board is covered in a clay.  I really liked it and have ordered a bunch more.  I'm looking forward to seeing what will come of this new thing for me.  There will be no need for glass or a mat, the painting can be sprayed with fixative and framed like an oil painting.

Here is the link to a nice article about the upcomming New England Watercolor Society show at the Attleboro Arts Museum with a picture of the painting I had accepted and is also a prize winner.
Here is what the girls and I will be painting in Watercolor class this week.  Borrowed from my neighbor I think it might be a little bit challenging, I only hope I can teach it well enough because I think it came out really great.  I will probubly do this subject again at a later date and do it in a more close up way, like I did the previous painting of the guitar.

My painting "Lectric" was accepted into the New England Watercolor Society juried national show and I got the call yesterday that it also won the "Cheap Joes Merchandise Award". I am super excited about that. I am so very happy just to get my painting in. Show opens this weekend with an awards ceremony on Sunday the 29th.

This weeks watercolor class we worked on Masa paper, a japanese rice paper first crumpling in water, splashing paint on the wrong side, mounting it to a cold press watercolor paper and then painting on the right side. Mostly negative painging and a lot of fun!
